Grocery Store Haul – Breakfast Favorites

A viewer suggested that I post a grocery store haul. I thought this was a clever and easy video since I love to go grocery shopping. Here is my first “haul” video on YouTube, and no I don’t show you any makeup or makeup tips. This post is inspired by breakfast and includes some of my favorite breakfast staples, including how I still get my Vitamin C without OJ in the morning!

How much does a fitness video host workout?

November 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I uploaded a new video yesterday to answer a few questions from my fans.
1. How much do I workout for my job?
2. Am I trying to lose weight? If so, how much?

Here are my written answers:

I workout 5 days a week with one off day and one casual active day that I usually use to play a sport or go for a long walk. I run 3 days a week from 30-50 minutes (30 minutes being an interval based high intensity workout and 50 being a casual long run.) Two days a week I usually do Yoga which falls on running days anywhere from 20 minutes at home to 60 minutes at the gym. For the other 2 days I do strength training with a trainer at Revolution Fitness for an hour to 90 minutes using weights, machines and my own body weight.

I am not trying to lose weight but if I lost 5 lbs I would not be disappointed. I’m at a happy healthy weight where I can enjoy food and not feel like I’m restricting myself. I don’t eat whatever I want, but in moderation and on special occasions I do. I still drink on weekends and have dessert regularly. I’m trying to maintain my weight and build lean muscle mass.

I ran my first 10K!

October 13, 2009 · 1 Comment

I finished my first 10K yesterday and boy was I shocked at how well I did. The Tufts 10K in Boston is known as one of the best races in the area drawing over 8K runners and 25K spectators (via Boston Globe). The 6.2 mile course takes women down Charles Street across the river to Cambridge, over another bridge to Mass Ave, and down Commonwealth Avenue. There were fun events starting at 9am but someone decided to abuse the day off and enjoy sleeping in longer than usual…

I got to starting line later than planned. I read online that you are not allowed to use iPods during the race so I immediately panicked. I asked a few runners around me if they knew there were exceptions but no one seemed to know. I put my iPod in my bag and began to head over to the masses and get in line. Everyone I saw had an ipod. Frustrating. If you are going to allow them, say it! If not, follow through with the rule. So annoying. Anyway, I had been diagnosed with an ear infection and had a nasty cold since Thursday. Reluctant to run at all, I just decided to go for it.

I finished in 52 minutes with less than a 9 minute mile! I finished around 850 out of 6000+ so that was amazing and a great feeling. If I want to run a half marathon, I know I’ll be able to do it, I just need to put in the time and effort to log the hours to train. Maybe next year…
