My New Best Friend: Polar FT60 Heat Rate Monitor
Do you have a heart rate monitor? If you do not, it will change your life. I am obsessed. I can’t run/workout without it now. I used to think on the elliptical I wasn’t getting any cardio, and it turns out, I wasn’t really. But I was in that “fat burning” zone which is good to know. I also found out that I can’t run easy, I’m an all or nothing type runner which means I’ve gotta learn how to slow down if I want to run a half marathon.
I wore this thing yesterday for my first “half marathon” training workout and burned about 550 calories during my 60-minute run. I was able to keep my heart rate around 160 bpm which I think is good for a long run.
Today, I wore it while shoveling and was told that I burned about 200 calories… good to know stuff right there. I plan to do some yoga later in the house. Looking forward to seeing what those numbers are like.
